Lifting The Veil
Depression, Drug Abuse, Domestic Violence, Poverty, Sexual Abuse, Children Lost to gang violence, to the prison plantations and state intervention via state agencies, Divorce, HIV/AIDS, Widowhood and Psychological disorders are more prevalent in the African American community at a rate significantly higher in proportion to our total population than that of any other racial-ethnic group in the United States. There are many theories, explanations and thoughts as to why this is the case. Racism, Poverty, Discrimination, Under-education and many others as we are all familiar with. We must not underestimate the impact those issues have on contributing to these matters. However, My objective in this neighborhood is also to have open conversations without judgment, so we can share our own experiences, our ideas and resources for those of us who may be dealing with these issues, or know someone who has. If we can begin to have an honest conversation about these matters, we can begin to “lift the veil” of pain, shame and black and blue pain in ourselves, our families and our communities. Thank You For Supporting, RJ!
